Top Boys To Watch At State Meet

Sean Laverty, junior, Cumberland

Earlier in the season, Sean would be on the cusp of making the list. After his performances of the last two weeks, he is a legitimate contender. At the Brown Invitational on Oct. 18, Sean finished tenth overall with an all-time best of 15:39.54. He also dipped under 16 minutes at the beginning of the month when he placed second with a time of 15:54.10 at the Maine Festival of Champions. The Clipper standout’s best race came this past weekend when he ignored several surges by the La Salle runners to hold onto second at the Class A meet to the Rams’ D.J. Principe. Sean is one of those hard-nosed runners that will gut it out to the finish. No doubt he’ll give it his all to break up the party up front.
