Top Boys To Watch At State Meet

Matt Bouthilette, junior, La Salle Academy

Matt is one of several La Salle runners capable of winning on Sunday. He owns the second fastest time in the field with his 15:31.71 effort at the Great American, a clocking that enabled him to place tenth overall in the championship race. He was third at the Class A meet with a time of 16:06.22. Just like his talented teammates, Matt is not afraid to hang with the top pack. Let’s not forget that he also has ran 9:15 for two mile at the New Balance Indoor Nationals last March and pulled off a mild upset at the indoor state meet by defeating top-seeded Colin Tierney of Bishop Hendricken in the 3K. Matt often likes to run side-by-side with teammate D.J. Principe. If he utilizes that strategy this weekend, he should be one of a number of runners to still be in contention in the late stages of the race.
