Watch 2016 Rhode Island State Championship Race Videos
Senior Eliza Rego (La Salle Academy) won the 2016 Rhode Island 1500m State Championship clocking 4:36 leading the event wire to wire. Taking out the pace early she was challenged by Westerly sophomore Randi Burr. Through around 700m Rego began to pull ahead as Burr would join a chase pack of Marissa McPhillips (Narragansett) and Kate Zitzmann (Barrington).

Rego had finished 2nd in the 1500m in 2014 and was able to win RI 1500m State Championships in both 2015 and 2016. She'd also win the 800m in 2:13.87 as well as finish 3rd in the 3000m at 10:12 in the 2016 State Championship.
