Tough outing for Salisbury at Dream Mile (updated)

Jack Salisbury didn't quite get what he was looking for at Saturday's adidas Dream Mile.

The La Salle junior hung with the leaders early in the race, but fell back considerably the final few laps and finished last in the field of 12 with a time of 4 minutes, 23.35 seconds. Salisbury went into the highly-publicized event with an all-time best of 4:06.75 from the elite HS mile at the Prefontaine Classic in late May.

"I was able to stay close through the first lap but they start dropping me and I didn't have it to go at any point," he said. "I just wasn't ready today. That's about it."

The race, which assembled the nation's best to the starting line at New York's Icahn Stadium, was won by Michigan's Grant Fisher of Grand Blanc in a time of 4:01.73.
