The Classical senior, who earlier in the meet captured the 300m dash and also placed second for 55m, was trailing Hope's Isis Hack by a considerable 50-meter margin when she got the baton for the final leg. With a half lap remaining it was apparent what Stern's intentions were. With a sensational kick the final straightaway, Stern passed Hack with less than 30m remaining to spur her team to victory and the state's top time of 4:07.79. Her split, 54.7!
