This article combines every 5000m race from the Ocean State XC Invitational and rescores the teams! All in all, there were 1,039 girls 5K times recorded at the meet!
The top team overall was Billerica Memorial High School (M.A.) who defeated Westford Academy (M.A.) in the championship race head-to-head 79 to 90. The size of the merge and added depth from other races stretched that score to 142 to 158.
Billerica Memorial averaged 19:49.4 and split 1:47.5 between their top five. They were led by Gianna McGowan, who finished fourth in the championship race, with a time of 18:45.
The top individual also came from Massachusetts, this time from Westford Academy's star junior Abigail Hennessey who ran a rounded time of 18:00, and a listed time of 17:59.4! A full 13 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Chase Gilbert of Old Lyme High School (C.T.) was second fastest with an 18:13. Tess Sherry of Conard High (C.T.) was third quickest at 18:24.
