What Are The Events To Watch At States?

Boys' 600m

The obvious favorite in this one is defending titlist Cebastian Gentil, who last year surprised the competition with his first state title. It won't be a surprised this weekend if he pulls it out, especially after his victory at the Dr. Sander Invitational in New York last month where he won with a state record and nation-leading time of 1:19.92. Gentil did that race on the banked oval of the New Balance Armory so we don't expect him to break 1:20 at PCTA. But we do expect he'll run faster than his seed time of 1:24.95. Remember, he did clock 1:21.89 to win the URI Indoor Classic on Jan. 6 on a flat (and faster) track. Who can push the Avenger standout?  North Kingstown's Jack Perrault is always up to the task when he toes the line. He comes into the meet with a 1:24.17 under his belt.
