It was another clean sweep for La Salle Academy at the State Cross-Country Championships.
For the third straight year, the Rams claimed the boys' title. La Salle defeated second-place Bishop Hendricken, 34-69. The Rams' DJ Principe won his third straight individual title and he did it in record fashion. Principe covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 14 minutes, 56.09 seconds. Barrington's Mars Bishop was second in 15:53.92 and La Salle freshman Max DiMuccio was third at 15:57.85.
In the girls' race, La Salle won a record eighth state title and its fourth straight by beating surprising runner-up Bay View, 63-116. Lawler was timed in 18:00.67 for her victory. Placing second was Westerly's Randi Burr with a time of 18:12.01. La Salle teammates Grace Connolly and Emily Kane were third and fourth, respectively.
