The two fastest times of the day were produced in this race with South Kingstown's Ellie Lawler and Westerly's Randi Burr occupying the 1-2 positions with times of 18:16.7 and 18:20, respectively. Both runners broke away from eventual third-place finisher Liz Sullivan of Portsmouth midway into the race. Sullivan made a case that she should be considered among the top seven contenders next week with a solid 18:44 clocking.
