R.I. State Meet: It's Prediction Time!

Four under 50 seconds in boys' 400m

At the 2014 state meet, former North Kingstown star and Brown University sophomore Zachary Emrich led three runners under 50 seconds with his winning time of 48.71. We're predicting that four will dip under the milestone on Saturday. The field already includes three sub-50 guys - East Providence's Alejandro Duarte, Central Falls' Yeury Galva and defending champion Austin Woio of Central. Even without Central's Donatien Djero, another 49-second runner, we think four under 50 seconds is possible. Duarte, Wolo and Galva have all been consistently around 49-50 seconds all year so we expect them to be battling it out down the final straightaway. But you also have three other runners in the field that are right on the bubble -  West Warwick's Justin Lucier (50.50) and Hendricken teammates Harry Antone (50.70) and Nick Williams (50.40).
