Throughout the week, RI MileSplit will feature some of the top athletes that will be competing at the New Balance Nationals Indoor Championships this weekend (March 13-15).
Carly Timpson, Narragansett
Carly defended her state crown in the high jump this season
and has leaped a best of 5-6 at two separate meets, the Rhody Track
& Field Classical and the divisional championships. This will be the first
time that the Mariner senior competes in the championship event. Last year she
was seventh in the Emerging Elite division at 5-2.5. In order to place at nationals, Carly will need to match, or more likely exceed, her best this
coming weekend. In 2015, a height of 5-6.5 would have earned her a top-six
finish.
