Murphy was the runner-up at the last two state meets (indoor, outdoor). This weekend he could break that streak. Murphy is the top-ranked leaper in the state with his season best of 6 feet, 3 inches. He achieved that height at the Class A Championship, a meet he narrowly missed 6-5. Ben is three inches higher than his nearest rivals, Lincoln's Darly Esenov and West Warwick's Quindel Wilson, so the odds are favorable for a win.
