Teams and Athletes to Watch at Divisionals

Southern Division

North Kingstown should coast to the team title in this one. From top to bottom, the Skippers are the best.

NK freshman Sam Toolin, who is entered in the 1,500m,1,000m  and the 4x800m relay, is certainly capable of scoring more than 20 points for his teammates. He did 4:22 for the mile to finish second at the Yale Track Classical last month, the fastest time by a ninth-grader in the country. He's also done 2:38 for the 1,000 and has broken two minutes for 800m.

North Kingstown, which has plenty of depth, has the top-ranked shot-putter with 50-footer Stephen Cirella, The Skippers also have the No.1 seed in the 300m (Randol Denney, 38.54), the 600m (freshman Jack Perrault, 1:30.14), the 55m hurdles (Benjamin Schapira, 8.18), the 4x200m, the 4x400m, the 4x800m relays.

South Kingstown's Anthony Shepard appears untouchable in the long jump. The defending state champion has a best of 23-0.5 this season.
