Since 2003, the team title has gone to either East Greenwich or Smithfield. That will more than likely continue this weekend as the two squads are far ahead of the field. Smithfield, whose three-year winning streak was halted last year by East Greenwich, appears to have the capability to bring it right back. The Sentinels have a formidable trio in sophomore Una Treanor, junior Sydney Bagus and senior Cassidy Bissitt, who rank second through fourth in the class. The Avengers counterattack with three underclassmen - ninth-grader Kalie Bremer, sophomore Rachel Berman and freshman Emma McDonald, who are all among the top 10.
Narragansett senior Marissa McPhillips, a recent second-place finisher at the Skee Carter (Bronco) Invitational, should be able to regain a title she also won as a sophomore. McPhillips ran a PB of 18:22.90 a few weeks ago at Brown. She should be able to improve on her best of 19:12 at Ponaganset.
