This could be the most highly-contested races of the day with four schools - Bay View, Portsmouth, Westerly and Lincoln - capable of stealing the show. Less than 20 points separates this quartet with Bay View getting a very-slight edge.
Westerly sophomore Randi Burr, who was seventh at the state meet last year as a ninth-grader, is the favorite to win the title. She has the fastest 5K time in the field with her 18:33.98 effort at the Brown Invitational, where she placed 13th in the Championship Race. Junior teammate Abbie Murdock gives the Bulldogs a solid 1-2 punch. She's a four seed with her best of 20:03.40. Pilgrim's Danika Wayss, who ran 19:05 at Brown, and Bay View's Claire Hanlon, who finished second in her race at the Wickham Park Invitational with a season-best of 19:55, are two other runners that are strong contenders for a top finish.
