While some Rhode Island teams were in Manhattan racing a 4k, others traveled to Wickham or Ponagansett to race in the final major out-of-state invite. Ponaganset specifically hosted the first annual Covered Bridge Classic to great success.

At Wickham, Cumberland boys dominated the freshmen race placing 3 in the top 5 led by Jake Schonhoff in 18:18. In the JV boys races, North Kingstown and Cumberland did very well with NK sweeping 1-3 led by Colson Place in 18:53 while Cumberland saw Collen Spencer lead 4 Clippers under 18:50 on the Wickham course.

In the Medium school race, Nick Martin  dominated the competition. He ran 16:15 on Wickham Park to win the race. Martin was the fastest RI athlete by a near 20 seconds as behind him were Elijah Saddlemire and Jason Padula of Smithfield in 5th and 10th specifically. Saddlemire, an 800-meter specialist, ran 16:33 while teammate Padula ran 16:55. The Cumberland boys ran in the large school race. Henderson and McCue placed 10th and 11th overall running 16:43 and 16:45 respectively.

On the girl's side, East Greenwich won placing 5 in the top 15. Reese Fahys won convincingly with a 19:09. Teammate Rylee Shunney also broke 20 running 19:57.

At the Covered Bridge Classic, many local teams competed with a few regional powerhouses in attendance.

Hall high school and New Milford dominated the top race, but some of the top individuals were Garrett Dailey and Nathan Evans. They ran 16:04.2 and 16:05.8 respectively for 4th and 5th in the championship section. In the girl's championship section Kiley DeFusco placed 8th overall in 19:27.3. Cumberland girls placed 5th overall in the merge thanks to a strong team performance. Rhode Island runners won every other race with Robert Rouleau of Lincoln winning race 2, Colin McDermott of Barrington winning race 3, and Maeve Kelly of Barrington winning race 2.

Many of these runners and more will return to Ponagansett in a few weeks for the beginning of the postseason.
