4. Boys High Jump
With the departure of 2-time state champion John Santos of Bishop Hendricken, a new high jump state champion will be crowned, and there are many possible replacements.
Jaden Saunders of Smithfield looks to be the favorite. After winning the outdoor state title last year, he has the number one mark in the state at 6-5. Behind him is Brady Fisher, the 2 seed from La Salle. He was the runner-up to Santos indoors and is only 1 inch off of Saunders. In a tie for third are Fisher's teammate Jack Johnson and Nick Lamoureux of Smithfield. Both own PB's of 6-2 this season, and could step up if the top 2 seeds falter at the final marks. A further four athletes have cleared 6-0 this year. This will be interesting in the team battle as La Salle has two jumpers in the top 8, and Hendricken has just 2 in the top 9. However, it should be noted that two jumpers from Hendricken have scored in every indoor state meet in the last decade.
