55m Hurdles
We have two defending champions in this event. Two defending champions that will more than likely be challenged until the final hurdle. North Kingstown's Tereza Bolibruch is aiming for her third straight crown this weekend and, as usual, appears to be clicking on all cylinders. But even though she's often flawless, one click of a hurdle can make a difference in the end. If that happens, there's potential for an upset with Woonsocket's Alissiana Folco on the line. The talented sophomore was second to Bolibruch at the Large School meet a few weeks ago and also a runner-up at the East Coast Invitational. Her best is 8.66, a few tenths away from Bolibruch's 8.41 best from last year. Bolibruch has indicated numerous times over the last two years that she would like to break the state mark of 8.21, set 15 years ago by Chariho's Mary Serdakowski. If she shows up with her 'A' game and is pushed to the limit by Folco and company, it's a longshot but you never know. Cumberland's Chris Choquette will be looking to make it back-to-back titles in the boys' race. The Clipper senior has a best of 7.73, which he did at last year's State Meet. He has hovered in that range all winter and goes into the race with a season best of 7.74. Who will be his top competition? East Greenwich versatile senior Connor Sheridan has a chance to make it happen. He won the Class C meet and was also first the URI Indoor track Classic where he ran a season best of 7.93.
