Who's the No. 1 runner for Bishop Hendricken? Take your pick.

What's been a recurring theme the last two cross-country seasons, the Hawks once again demonstrated pack mentality on Saturday, easily capturing the Varsity E Race at the Manhattan Invitational with a relatively easy 43-126 decision over second-place Warwick Valley (NY).

Junior Jonathan Iamarone was the Hawks' top runner this time, placing fifth overall in 13 minutes, 00.6 seconds for the four-kilometer course at New York's historic Van Cortlandt Park. Hendricken had its next four scoring runners finishing among the first 11 placements at the meet. The gap between the Hawks' first and fifth runners was just 16.7 seconds!

Rounding out the scoring for Hendricken was Jack McMahon (13:10.91), Sean Meehan (ninth, 13:13.0), Luke Henseler (tenth,13.30) and Aidan Tierney (11th, 13:16.70). Ryan Mallozzi (14th, 13:21.80) and Dylan Manning (26th, 13:37.4) also ran strong. In a merge of all eight races at the meet, the Hawks were third among 185 teams based on time.

In the girls' Eastern States' Championship race, Rhode Island had three runners finish among top. La Salle seniors Grace Connolly (14:41.4) and Emily Kane (14:45.0) were tenth and 12th, respectively. Portsmouth's Nikki Merrill was 13th (14:50.2).
