Performer Of The Week: Sam Toolin, N. Kingstown

Once again there were many different candidates for our Performer of the Week.

But our pick this week is the one who got it done in Manchester, Connecticut at the Wickham Park Invitational, Sam Toolin of North Kingstown.

The Skipper sophomore won a tight battle in the Championship race, covering a very-difficult five-kilometer layout in 15:52. Toolin stayed with a small lead pack of three up the steep incline at the 3K mark, appropriately called the Green Monster. He broke for the win with roughly 500 meters remaining, overtaking the Nutmeg State's top harrier, Drew Thompson of Fairfield Prep, by three seconds. As a freshman last year, Toolin was second at Wickham.

Honorable Mention: Cumberland's Ben Drezek and La Salle's Grace Connolly, R.I.'s top finishers at the Manhattan Invitational.
