La Salle Academy teammates Jack Salisbury and Matt Bouthillette did the early pace-setting in the championship two-mile run on Saturday. Salisbury gutted out a fourth-place finish, just missing a state record with a best of 9 minutes, 1.85 seconds. Bouthillette placed tenth in the talented field with a 9:21.07 clocking.
