The Hope senior captured the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.45 seconds. She clocked her fastest time in her preliminary heat with a 24.39 effort.
East Greenwich senior Margaret McCaffrey won her heat and was eighth overall in the 2,000m steeplechase with a state-record time of 7:29.36. McCaffrey broke the existing mark of 7:33.96 by Julianna Portelli of Barrington in 2013.
East Greenwich's gifted freshman Laura Murphy ran a pair of national-qualifying times in the 400m (59.99) and the 200m (26.01).
During Day 1 of the meet, La Salle's distance medley relay of senior Sheridan Wilbur (3:39.2, 1,200m), freshmen Emily Kane (1:02.7, 400m), junior Karina Taveres (2:21.0, 800m) and junior Eliza Rego (4:54.2, 1,600m) broke its own state record with a combined time of 11:57.15.
