Top Boys To Watch At State Meet

DJ Principe, sophomore, La Salle Academy

Based on what he’s done this season, D.J. has to be considered the favorite to win the individual title. The La Salle tenth-grader, who placed fourth at last year’s state meet, has been unbeatable against R.I. competition. He won the season-opening Injury Fund Carnival where he ran his personal best of 15:27.51 for five kilometers.  He was seventh at the Great American X-C Festival with a time of 15:30.89 and captured individual honors at the recent Class A meet where he was timed in 15:50.98. DJ is a smart runner and can adjust his strategy no matter how the race goes. That's a gift that only a handful of runners possess.
