R.I. athletes earn five gold medals at N.E. meet

Rhode Island athletes earned five gold medals at Saturday's New England Championships at Bridgewater State University.

Hope High junior Quahsira McIntosh was a double winner in the sprint events, taking the 100-meter dash in 11.84 seconds and the 200m at 24.55. She was also on the victorious 4x100m relay that was timed in 48.77 and the third-place 4x400m squad (3:59.07). Bishop Hendricken senior Colin Tierney finished out his outstainding high school career by breaking the tape in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:22.19. La Salle Academy captured the girls' 4x800me relay with a meet record of 9:05.30.
