Rams capture title at Cumberland Invite

La Salle Academy went home with the team hardware at Saturday’s Cumberland Invitational. Highlighted by impressive individual triumphs from Eliza Rego and Morgan Wainwright, the Rams earned the team crown at Tucker Field, defeating second-place North Kingstown, 117-80. Cumberland and Pilgrim tied for third with 44 points.

Rego was one of three athletes that broke meet records in the state qualifier. The gifted sophomore set her mark in the 800-meter run with a personal best of 2 minutes, 12.50 seconds. Wainwright took gold in the 300 hurdles, breaking the tape in 50.20. La Salle also placed first in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:09.0.

Cumberland junior Nichole Barger had a more than nine-second PB of 4:47.40 en route to a win in the 1,500m, a race that featured six runners under five minutes. The Clippers’ Meaghan Scullin was a double winner. She cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to take the high jump and leaped a distance of 17-4.25 to place first in the long jump.

Exeter/West Greenwich senior Morgan Hart established a meet record in the pole vault with a height of 10-6. In the 100m dash, Woonsocket freshman Quinn Harlan edged LaSalle’s Stephanie DiTraglia with both sprinters matching the MR of 12.40.

Hope junior Quashira McIntosh blazed to a 58.0 clocking in the 400m. Darchell Judd, a junior from Juanita Sanchez earned gold in the 200m with a time of 25.70.

Narragansett’s Leia Mistowski had a first-place toss of 159-8 in the hammer throw and North Kingstown’s Maria Bolibruch was first across the line in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.70.
