In her final conference meet as a collegian, Flowers won both the hammer throw and shot put. On Friday, the first day of competition, she set a meet record in the hammer with a toss of 64.4 meters (211 feet, 3.5 inches). Flowers captured the shot on Saturday with a toss of 16.43 meters (53-05).

Connecticut’s Josh Faboyede, another ex-Classical standout, was second in the men’s hammer at 60.63 meters (196-10.25).

Two more local athletes fared well over the weekend at the America East Championships in Binghamton, N.Y. University of Maine sophomore Robyn McFetter, a 2011 graduate of Barrington, defended her crown in the 4K hammer with a winning toss of 183-9. Former BHS teammate, Vermont junior Charlotte Mintzer, was third with a distance of 153-06.
