Indoor Track: Five Boys To Watch In Middle/Long Distance Events

D.J. Principe, sophomore, La Salle Academy

D.J. is coming off a very successful cross-country season where he captured the state individual title and was La Salle’s No. 1 runner through their history-making season. How will that transpire on the indoor surface? He was one of the top ninth-graders in the nation last year and is on pace to prove he’s among the select group of elite runners overall in the country.  D.J. was third in the 3K at the indoor state meet where he ran his personal best of 8:45. He has also run 4:10 for the 1,500m and during the outdoor season uncorked an eye-popping 9:15 effort for 3,200m at the Glenn D. Loucks Games in New York. Mark our words, D.J. will be ready to roll this winter. He hasn’t disappointed yet. After his dominating cross-country season where he ran a best of 15:27 for the 5K distance, we’re predicting great things from this La Salle runner. Don’t be surprised if he runs close to 8:30 for the 3K and a low four-minute effort for the 1,500m. He is certainly capable.
