This preview of the Exeter Milers features Nike athlete Jordan McNamara. If you are a fan of track and field and have followed collegiate distance running, the name Jordan McNamara should be familiar. Jordan began his running career in Washington state at Aruburn-Riverside High School where as a senior he ran 4:16 for 1600m (good enough to net him third) with another strong showing in the 3200m with a 9:19. His high school PRs include 4:15.17 for 1600m and 9:05.32 for 3200m. Jordan continued his running career at Lane community college and then later as a college freshmen for the University of Washington. After a stellar cross country season where he qualified for NCAA nationals, he went on to transfer to the University of Oregon. While at Oregon Jordan amassed several honors including being a member of the school record distance medley relay team as the 1200m leg. That team ran 9:29.39 indoors. His senior year he earned All-American honors by finishing 8th in the 5000m at the NCAA Championships, a fitting end to a great collegiate career. Jordan's collegiate PRs include a 3:59.87 mile and 13:45.45 5000m.
Since graduating in 2010 Jordan has gone on to run professionally as a member of the Oregon Track Club. He is sponosred by Nike and has continued to lower his times. His 3:54.89 run at the Falmouth Mile puts him in the mix to be the first man to break 4:00 on Rhode Island soil. He has also competeted three times at the USA Track and Field Championships as well as the 2008 Olympic Trials.
