Rhode Island Shines At Outdoor National Meets

Adidas took place at NC A&T Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, North Carolina. This was the former venue of New Balance Nationals Outdoors. The venue always helps to produce fast time, All-Americans, and national champions, and this year was no different.

VonHousen of Chariho ran a perfectly executed race in the National Elite Girls 2 Mile Run. She was able to hold Arizona Blankenship of Swain County to finish second in 11:13.14, a small PR from New England's a few weeks previously.

Portsmouth high school sent a freshmen duo to nationals. Addison May took 14th overall in the Freshmen Mile with a final time of 5:46.71. Allie Kaull took third overall in the Freshmen 2 Mile with an 11:58.37. This duo could be the next great future duo similar to Emily Kane and Grace Connolly of La Salle or Nikki Merill and Elizabeth Sullivan of Portsmouth.

Central sent Isys Patterson to the Freshmen 200 at Nationals. She ran a personal best of 26.66 to take 24th in the race. Her teammate Gabriel Dosunmu ran in the National Elite 100. He took 39th overall in 11.22.

Rhode Island Hammer throwers made an appearance at all three nationals with Killian Oberheu of Narragansett placing 5th in the Championship event.

La Salle's Raymond Flores and Blake Santos ran in the National Elite 800 with the duo placing 18th and 27th respectively. Santos also ran the mile running 4:40.06 to place 22nd in the National Elite Mile.
