The Mount Pleasant boys already had the title of fastest 4x200 meter relay team in the state heading into the RIIL Class Indoor Championships on Saturday. They had dipped just under 1:32 on the banked track of Yale with a 1:31.78 performance in mid January.
The quartet outdid that performance and even more impressively did it on a flat track this weekend in winning the Class A title in the 4x200 meter with a new meet record time of 1:31.14. One of their relay legs in senior Abraham Tambah had a big day in winning the 55 meter dash in 6.55 and 300 meter dash as well in 36.61.

Could this team have the makings of going sub 1:30 when they race on a banked track again at the New England Championships or New Balance Nationals. Only the 2017 Central squad at 1:29.05 and 2007 Hope squad at 1:29.72 have gone under that time in recent state history. In fact, Mount Pleasant's performance at the Class Championships is the third fastest behind those two teams over the past two decades.
