The Hawks are for real!
With its most impressive performance in school history at Saturday's Manhattan Invitational, Bishop Hendricken won the individual title in the ultra-competitive Eastern States Championship. How impressive was the Hawks' performance on Van Cortlandt Park's challenging four-killometer terrain? For starters, all five of their scoring runners clocked a time under 13 minutes. In winning the title, Hendricken no doubt moved up in status in the national rankings. The Hawks, who were ranked No. 12, defeated No. 3 Fayetteville-Manlius, 92-113. Finishing third was Clarmont with 117.
Aidan Tierney led the barrage for Hendricken by finishing seventh overall in 12:35.8. The remaining quintet consisted of Jack McMahon (13th, 12:46.0), Matt St. Jean (18th, 12:48.1), Luke Henseler (22nd, 12:49.6) and David DelBonis (32nd, 12:56.0).
