Rhode Island Memorable Outdoor T&F Moments: Casey Gannon, 300m IH, State Championships

Over the next few weeks, MileSplit RI will feature what we consider the best performances of the outdoor track & field season. This was an arduous task to undertake as there was an abundance of fine efforts turned in by our Rhode Islanders throughout this spring campaign.  Here's our latest...

Casey Gannon

300-meter Intermediate Hurdles, State Championships

The Toll Gate senior was one of our top hurdlers during the indoor season, finishing second to defending champion Tereza Bolibruch of North Kingstown in the 55m HH. It didn't stop during the outdoor campaign where she was Bolibruch's chief rival in the 100m hurdles, an event she finished as a runner-up to the Skipper standout.

Where the Titan senior excelled most was the 300m IH, where she was unbeaten against R.I. competition, winning the Classical Classic, Rick Schomp Invitational, Class A Championship, Mount Pleasant Invitational and topping it off with her first individual title at the State Meet. It's this meet that we classify as the best of the best for Gannon. The talented Titan dipped under 45 seconds for the first time in her career, securing the crown with a personal best of 44.77, nearly 1.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Grace Beaudry of Smithifield, who was timed in 46.19. Gannon would follow up that effort by placing third at the New England Championships a week later.
