Ten Events To Watch At The R.I. State Meet

Woonsocket's Quinn Harlan

GIRLS' 100m

In last year's State Meet, top-seed Quinn Harlan of Woonsocket was injured in her preliminary heat and never made it to the finals. We're predicting bad luck won't strike again. Harlan will try and close out her outstanding high school career with a victory in the short sprint. Her toughest challenger is certainly someone that can win it all, East Greenwich Isabella Gentil. Gentil finished second to former Classical all-stater May Stern in last year's race and owns the top-seeded time of 12.0. Harlan defeated Gentil convincingly at last week's Mount Pleasant Invitational where she was clocked 12.2 to Gentil's 12.5. But remember, this is the State Meet. As she proved last year, often times our best efforts come when it matters the most. This one could be determined by a lean. You also can't ignore Westerly's Emma Santee (12.3) and La Salle's Alexandria Montagano (12.4).
