VOTE For The Top Performance(s) Of The Weekend!

Westerly's Randi Burr clocked a state-leading time of 9:59.50 for 3K at the Mount Pleasant Invite.

As expected, the final meets before this Saturday's State Meet were full of outstanding performances by our Rhode Island athletes. Portsmouth's Nikki Merrill clocked a nation No. 8 in the 1,500-meter run at the Mount Pleasant Invitational. Toll Gate's Casey Gannon and Woonsocket's Quinn Harlan were both double-winners at Mount Pleasant with victories in the sprints and hurdle events, respectively. At the Hendricken Invitational, Barrington's Mars Bishop tuned up for this week's 800m race with a PB and state No. 2 of 1:55.40. There was, of course, another performance that certainly sticks out. Across the country at the University of Oregon, DJ Principe was once again making history, establishing a state and New England record in the mile where he clocked an all-time best of 4:00.73. Pretty incredible stuff!. These are just a few of the performances we picked for this week's poll. Pick what you feel deserves to be at the top. Voting ends on Saturday at midnight.

  • With 60 votes, Lincoln's Samantha Andrews won last week's poll. Andrews was recognized for her sweep of the four throwing events at the Class B meet.
