Woonsocket Makes Noise Inside The Cage

It's not secret that Woonsocket High has some of the best weight-throwers in the state this season.

The Villa Novans continued to validate that claim this weekend.

Friday morning at the Yale Track Classic, Woonsocket took the top three spots in the 25-pound weight with Oregon-bound senior Jared Briere winning the individual title with a heave of 68 feet, 5.25 inches. Finishing second was Jacob Greenless with a toss of 65-7.5 and taking third was Dilyn Cote at 65-0.5. While La Salle's DJ Principe was flirting with a sub four-minute mile at the New Balance Games on Saturday, all three Woonsocket teammates were making some noise inside the cage with the state-leading Briere breaking 70 feet for the first time this winter with a winning distance  and personal best of 71-0.5 (US #6). Greenless secured second at 66-4.25 and Cote was third with a 64-7.5 effort.

In the girls' competition at New Balance, Woonsocket's Marissa Henleywas third with a distance of 41-8.5. The Novans' Katrina Kurowski was fifth at 40-3.75.
