Salisbury is your Dream Mile champion!!!

For his final race as a high school runner, Jack Salisbury couldn't have scripted it any better.

The recent La Salle Academy graduate captured the Dream Mile of the adidas Boost Boston Games Friday night at Somerville's Dilboy Stadium with an all-time best of 4 minutes, 4.21 seconds. With a blistering kick over the final 150 meters, Salisbury slipped by eventual second-place finisher Thomas Ratcliffe of Concord-Carlisle (MA), who was timed in 4:04.41.

In all, eight runners went under 4:08 in the heavily-stacked field.

"My primary goal in this was just to get a PR," said Salisbury, whose previous best was 4:06.74 "I came through in 2:04 for the 800 and I knew that was sort of slow and I was 3:06 at 1,200. I really, really wanted a PR more than a win. In my mind, I was just going to close as hard as I possible could and get my PR down as low as possible. I think if the race was a little faster at 1,200, I don't think I would have had that fight in me to get that PR.  I started picking off kids with 100 remaining and my eyes lit up and I was like I can get this, I can get this.  That was my mentality."
