R.I. State Meet: Boys' Team Preview

Beginning with our 2015 champions, La Salle will once again rely heavily on its outstanding distance trio of Jack Salisbury, DJ Principe and Matt Bouthillette. Together these three runners should score the bulk of the Rams' total. Salisbury is favored to defend his title in the 1,500-meter run, and the 800m, too. He boast the fastest time in the state for the 1,500m with a best of 3:52 from his victory at the Schomp Invitational. Bouthillier and Principe are also low-to-mid 3:50 guys, who also are capable of going 1-2 in the 3K.

But the Rams are not all about distance. They have a 4x100m relay that is ranked No. 2 in the state and also have the addition of all-state sprinter Sam Coleman, who plays lacrosse during the spring. Coleman could be the X-Factor. He hasn't competed most of the season for the Rams because of lacrosse. But the indoor 55m state champion proved he hasn't lost too much speed from the winter season this past Saturday at the Hendricken invitational. In only his second meet of the season, Coleman captured the 200m with a time of 22.1 and also earned gold in the long jump with a leap of 20-10.5. He's capable of scoring high in both of those events.
