Top Six Events to Watch at Schomp Invitational

Girls' 3,000m

This is a race that could turn out very interesting. The top seed is La Salle senior Eliza Rego, who has broken 10 minutes on multiple occasions. She'll be pushed for another fast time with teammates Karina Tavares, Emily Kane and Grace Connolly also in the field. But we also can't forget South Kingstown sophomore Ellie Lawler, Lawler had a breakthrough cross-country season where she defeated Rego for the individual title. She later placed second at the New England meet and earned All-American status with her 14th place finish at the Foot Locker Nationals. Lawler, a swimmer during the winter season, will be running her first highly-competitive race since the nationals.  She is certainly capable of a low 9:50 effort. In other words. she could be battling Rego right to the end.
