La Salle Academy and East Greenwich each displayed a solid showing at the annual Bowdoin XC Classic Saturday afternoon at Wappinger Falls, N.Y..
Highlighted by a 1-2 finish from junior D.J. Principe and senior Matt Bouthillette, La Salle placed second overall to Voorhees High with 68 points. The New Jersey school scored 50 points. East Greenwich was third with 80 points.
Running on the same challenging course that will host the Nike Northeast Regionals in late November, Principe blazed to a winning time of 15 minutes, 44.99 seconds. Bouthillette also dipped under 16 minutes, placing second at 15:59.12.
Four more R.I. athletes finished among the top 25 at the meet, including East Greenwich junior Jackson Cronin (sixth, 17:08.44), East Greenwich senior Joe Higgins (12th, 17:14.21), East Greenwich senior Dylan Depriest (18th, 17:31.20) and La Salle junior Ben Carlisle (23rd, 17:34.30).
