
The ninth annual Ocean State XC High School Invitational will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Goddard State
Park, located on 1095 Ives Road, Warwick RI 02818. Meet directors are Bob & Anne Rothenberg
and Charlie Breagy.
The 2014 High School meet included teams
from CT, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, and RI. Tolland
of CT and Red Bank Catholic of NJ went 1-2 in the Championship girls division,
and Robbinsville of NJ won the boys with St. John's HS of MA taking the silver.
Goddard Park is known for its rolling hills and scenic trail
views overlooking the Greenwich Bay on its spectator-friendly course. Ample room is available for warm-up and team
tents. This year's meet will feature 14
High School races for Freshmen, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Championship. The meet is recognized for its accurate time
schedule, free hot lunch for coaches, and hillside awards ceremony. Sanctions have been requested from CO, CT,
MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, RI, and VT.

Don't forget MS races, too
In addition to the HS event, the Ocean State Invite also has a series on middle school races held the day before on Friday, Sept. 25.
The 2014 meet included over
1,500 sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders from CT, MA,
NH, NY, and RI.
This year's meet will include six races, starting
at 3:30 p.m. with seventh-grade girls, then boys, sixth-grade
girls, then boys, and finally eighth-grade girls followed by eighth-grade boys. Awards will be given to the
top 30 finishers and top three teams in each race.
All races are 2,000 meters on grass and dirt trails. Goddard Park provides ample space for warmup
and team tents.
