Judging by the national rankings, Rhode Island could have its first individual champion in the three- day meet with Barrington High teammates Bobby Colantonio and Adam Kelly, who are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the hammer, scheduled to compete tonight in their specialty.
La Salle Academy juniors Jack Salisbury and Matt Bouthillette will also be looking to place high in the boys' two-mile run and Ram junior Eliza Rego will be aiming to do the same in the girls' two mile. The girls are schdeuled to start at 6:45 p.m. and the boys will answer the gun at 7.

(North Kingstown's Bethany Nunnery (17) and Cumberland's Amy Laverty (11) competed in the Emerging Elite two-mile run. Nunnery was fourth in 11:10.79. Laverty placed 15th in 11:29.45.)

Salisbury finished fourth in the championship two mile with a personal-best time of 9 minutes, 1.85 seconds. Former Chariho great Mike Marsella holds the current state mark of 9:00.90. Ram junior Matt Bouthillette, who paced the opening two laps with his teammate, placed tenth in 9:21.07.91.
