Westerly's Randi Burr, Classical's Alva Hicks and Hope's Quashira McIntosh were all multiple winners at Saturday's Rhody Track & Field Classic, held at the Mackal Field House.

Burr, a freshman, copped the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 17.71 seconds. She was also the first across the line in the 1,000m where she was timed in 3:11.35.

McIntosh came just .04 from her state record in the 55m dash with a winning 7.15 clocking (US #15). The Hope speedster, who owns five state marks, also dominated the 300m with a time of 40.42. McIntosh finished out her day by anchoring the victorious 4x200m relay that was timed in 1:45.97.

"Today, I came into this meet head on," she said. "I wanted to win. I wanted to break some state records today but not everything turns out the way you want it to be."

The Purple's Hicks claimed individual titles in the 20-pound weight (56 feet, 11 inches) and the shot put (38-7).

Narragansett senior Carly Timpson defended her crown in the high jump where she had a two-inch best of 5-6. Last year's indoor and outdoor state champion qualified for the championship portion of the New Balance Nationals with her winning leap.

"That feels awesome," said Timpson, who was also fifth in the weight throw (45-8). "Last year I went to the nationals but I was Emerging Elite so five-feet, five and a half got me to the championships."

Smithfield's Stephanie Mattson won the long jump with a distance of 17-0.5. Mattson, a third-place finisher in the event at last year's outdoor states, is competing in her first season of indoor track.

"I was really proud," she said. "I came to get a PR, which for the season was a PR, so that was good. I lengthened my approach by two steps so I think that really helped. I just worked on attacking the board and getting height. It was a good day."

"We're very happy," Sentinel head coach John Marchand said. "She really works hard in practice. We brought her approach back a step. She was very consistent today. Her technique was very good. She was really textbook on her 17-foot jump."

Central sophomore Donatien Djaro, a transfer from Juanita Sanchez and a first-year runner on the indoor surface, won the 300m with a solid time of 37.05. He was also on the Knights' first-place 4x400m relay that combined for a time of 3:35.80.

Cumberland senior Jared Talbert captured the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.78. He beat outdoor 110m hurdle champion Nathan Narcisse, who placed second at 8.02.

"It was a tough race. There's a lot of good competition here. Classical has a lot of good hurdlers," Talbot said. I came in here with the mindset that I had to do my best here to win."

Pilgrim's Jacob Yang copped the 25-pound weight with a distance of 63-3.5.
