High school football on Friday nights has been a growing tradition for more than a decade in R.I. and lately soccer has jumped on the bandwagon with nighttime games.
Why not cross-country?
That was kind of the thought process behind the inaugural MileSplit RI Twilight X-C Relays, to be held on Friday night, Sept. 13 at Cumberland High’s Tucker Field. The first-time event, which is open to schools from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, will feature a series of novice 3x1 mile relays followed by a series of varsity 3x2 mile relays.
The relays will consist of a one-mile loop around the Tucker Field athletic complex and will take place from 4:30 p.m. until about 10 p.m. T-shirts will also be available for purchase in this exciting, new event!
