With her school moving up to Division 1 this year, Mitchell will now how to face her good friend and rival, Grace Connolly, for the individual crown. The Milton senior was last year's Division 2 champion, but a repeat performance in the higher division would seem unlikely with Connolly in the field. But we do think that Mitchell is the leading contender for that coveted runner-up spot. She won the EMass Division 3 title this past Saturday in 18:22, 20 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. She'll have plenty more runners to push her this weekend and could dip under 18 minutes with the right kind of race. Nonetheless, no matter what time she runs at the All States, we think that effort should land her at the No. 2 spot.
