Nation No. 2s for Rego, Jacobsen at Divisionals!


La Salle Academy senior Eliza Rego and Toll Gate senior Courtney Jacobsen manufactured a pair of top national performances in their respective events at Saturday's divisional championships.

Rego clocked the country's second fastest time for 1,500 meters, winning the Bayha Division title with a time of 4 minutes, 34.86 seconds. The Ram standout also captured the 1,000m with a solid 2:58.02 clocking.

The Titans' Jacobsen tossed a nation No. 2 in the 20-pound weight with a personal best of 56 feet, 7.5 inches. She beat another nationally-ranked athlete, Lysah Russell of Classical, who was second at 52-1.5.

In the team competition, Cumberland defeated runner-up La Salle to capture the Bayha crown. Chariho Regional was a 75-70 victor over second-place Woonsocket in the Sullivan Division. East Greenwich cruised to the team title in the Sullivan Division, out-scoring runner-up Lincoln, 122.5-103. Classical held off Toll Gate for the crown in the Headley Division by a score of 113-96.
