Last year, East Greenwich grad Garrett Scanlon captured the 1,500m in 4:13.0.
RI MIleSplit will once again host the Cumberland Distance Classic to be held this year on Saturday, April 18 at Tucker Field, beginning at 2 p.m.
Just like last year, there will be separate boys' and girls' races. Also the same as last year, there will be some changes (and additions). The 1,500-meter races have been boosted to a mile and two relays have also be added, a 4x800m and a DMR.. The meet also features a rare 5K event and an Open Mile that's open to the public. Attractive medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
In the 2014 meet, we had nearly double the amount of entries from previous years. We're hoping for an even bigger turnout this year. Proceeds help support RI MileSplit. The cost is just $4 per runner, limit two events (one individual, one relay). Team rate (per gender) of $50.
