Clippers are Eastern States' bound

North Kingstown senior Ian Connors is also entered in the meet. He's scheduled to compete in the 800m.

For elite athletes there is one other major meet this winter before the New Balance National Indoor Championships in mid-March.

On Tuesday, top athletes and teams from throughout the region will be in New York City for the 81st annual Eastern States Championships. This week's event often acts as a last-chance meet to get a higher seed (or qualifier) for the NBNI meet.

Locally, Cumberland High will make the trip to NYC with hopes of qualifying its DMR squad for the nationals. The Clippers have a best of 10:42.08, which they did at the Dartmouth Relays. The cutoff point for NBNI is 10:28. Comprising the quartet for Cumberland is James Haupt, Matt Feng, David Agudelo and Abdullah Kaba.

North Kingstown senior Ian Connors will also be at the meet. He's entered in the 800m where he owns a best of 1:57.1.
