North Kingstown, Classical win titles!
After two-plus months of league meets and invitationals, the R.I. state championships have finally arrived.
On Saturday, the best athletes from Woonsocket to Westerly will be at Brown Stadium competing on track & field's biggest stage. Just like last year, the battle for the team titles looks tight on both sides. The North Kingstown boys and the La Salle Academy girls look to be the favorites but it won't be easy. The talented is loaded, too. The field will include 10 defending champions - North Kingstown's Zachery Emrich (400m, 800m), Hope's Quashira McIntosh (100m, 200m), Classical's Alva Hicks (discus), Westerly's Jackie Burr (3,000m), North Kingstown's Maria Bolibruch (100m hurdles), Smithfield's Alyssa Colbert (javelin), East Providence's Ryan Williams (100m, 200m), North Kingstown's Ben Stewart (300m hurdles), Exeter/West Greenwich's Morgan Hart (javelin) and Classical's Maddy Berkson (1,500m).
