Five RI Athletes That Could Strike Gold At NE Meet

Joseph dos Reis, La Salle Academy

With Ryan Oosting of Arlington (MA), a 4:12 miler, forgoing this race to concentrate on the two mile, the mile is wide open with a host of talented runners that could make it happen this weekend, including La Salle's Joseph dos Reis. At last year's New England meet, dos Reis had a breakthrough performance with a then-best of 4:19.04, an effort that earned him fourth overall. The recent state 1,500m champion has the potential to win it all on Saturday. He goes into the meet after running an all-time best of 4:17.30 at the BU Last Chance Meet. He'll battle two others that have run faster than 4:18, Connecticut's Alexander Korczynski and Staples' William Landowne. Korczynski, the recent CIAC State Open winner, captured the Yale Track Classic earlier this season. With his lethal kick, we all know what dos Reis can do if the race is close. This one could end up that way if everyone is on their game.
