Class C, Small School Championships
East Greenwich won its third straight boys' title and Bay View Academy made it two in a row for girls in the final two meets of the night. The Avengers were a 108-78 winner over second-place Rogers. The Bengals defeated runner-up Mount St. Charles, 99-68.
East Greenwich's versatile senior Connor Sheridan was a double-winner, taking the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.99 and the long jump with a leap of 20-11.
Recent 600m state-holder Cebastian Gentil of East Greenwich won his specialty in 1:24.95. Central Falls' Adilson Gomes Sequeira was second in 1:25.40.
Narragansett's Kegan Schroeter won the weight throw with a state No. 5 of 65-5.
Bay View went 1-2 in the 600m to collect 18 points. The Bengals' Aliya Barrows dominated the race with a winning time of 1:38.12. Hannah Connor was second at 1:44.0.
Rogers' Jianna Peno became the latest state-leader in the shot with a first-place toss of 38-6. The top four finishers exceeded 36 feet. Finishing second was the Prout School's Sarah Mitchell with a heave of 37-6.25. Smithfield's Kendra Ezeama (third, 37-4.5) and Bay View's Noelya Delacruz (fourth, 36-2) were right behind.
